About this game
As someone who loves stealth games, I've been feeling a bit starved lately. Splinter Cell has been dormant for over a decade, Metal Gear has been in limbo, and the genre as a whole seems to have taken a backseat in an era dominated by open-world action and live-service titles. So when Mudang: Two Hearts was revealed at the Xbox Games Showcase in June 2025, it felt like a genuine shot of excitement - and I genuinely cannot wait to get my hands on it. South Korean developer EVR Studio unveiled the game on June 8, 2025, during the Xbox Games Showcase - a cinematic, stealth-focused action adventure set in a politically volatile, near-future unified Korea, scheduled for release on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. The premise alone is unlike anything else on the radar right now. The story is set at a pivotal moment: the divided nations of South and North Korea are on the verge of reunification, but on the day the historic bill is set to pass, a mysterious terrorist group attacks the South Korean National Assembly, throwing the entire nation into chaos. Ji Jeongtae, a North Korean soldier sent to investigate, stumbles upon a K-pop star named Gavi at the centre of the unfolding crisis, and as their stories intertwine, a chilling truth begins to take shape. It's a genuinely fresh setting for a stealth game - part military thriller, part political drama, with a K-pop backdrop that sounds wild on paper but somehow works. Gameplay lets you choose flexibly between stealth, CQC (close-quarters combat), or all-out aggression at any moment, with a blend of approaches that encourages players to be resourceful, strategic, and creative with every mission. For someone like me who lives for the tension of a perfectly executed silent playthrough, that kind of flexibility is exactly what I want. Enemies don't just react - they match your arsenal move for move, with access to the same gadgets and techniques you rely on, including heavy infantry, saboteurs, and grenade specialists each with their own strategies. That kind of intelligent AI design is what separates a genuinely great stealth game from a forgettable one. SteamXBOX Wire Rather than leaning on overloaded visual effects, EVR opted for hyper-realistic character models, dynamic animations, 3D audio, and open level design built on Unreal Engine 5 - all pointing toward a game with real ambition and a clear identity. Here's the hard part, though. Since the game's reveal, EVR Studio's employee count dropped dramatically, its website went offline, and its YouTube channel fell silent after August 2025 - sparking serious concern among fans. All signs as of early 2026 pointed toward the project potentially being cancelled. It genuinely stings. Mudang: Two Hearts looked like exactly the kind of ambitious, narrative-driven stealth experience the genre has been crying out for. Here's hoping someone picks it up and sees it through - because this is one I really, really want to play.
