Nodusfall

About this game

HoYoverse opened Gamescom 2026 Opening Night Live with Nodus Fall, a new co-op action game built around hunting mythic creatures in a ruined fantasy world. The studio behind Genshin Impact and Honkai: Star Rail has traded its familiar anime presentation for dark fantasy, heavy armor and monsters that tower over the player. The shift grabs attention before the combat starts. Players take the role of Weavers in a world where divine authority has collapsed and order has fallen apart. HoYoverse wants groups to bring down mythic beings through coordination and tactical combat. The reveal trailer shows sword fights against humanoid enemies, group battles against huge creatures and wide environments that dwarf the characters crossing them. The trailer invites Monster Hunter and Elden Ring comparisons within seconds. Nodus Fall puts giant targets at the center of its first footage. One sequence shows players surrounding a massive enemy while each fighter attacks from a different angle. Other shots feature dragons, beasts roaming open terrain and a towering creature engulfed in flame. The combat carries more weight than the effects-heavy action HoYoverse fans know from Zenless Zone Zero. The Elden Ring influence shows up in the world design and enemy silhouettes. Dark ruins and medieval armor give Nodus Fall a harsher tone than HoYoverse has used in its biggest releases. The co-op focus also invites comparisons with Elden Ring Nightreign, while the giant hunts point toward Monster Hunter. Those games give us a useful reference point. HoYoverse still has to define the combat identity behind Nodus Fall. The company has revealed little about how a hunt works from start to finish. We do not know how players build a Weaver, how loot works, whether the world uses one open map or separate hunting zones, or how much of the game supports solo play. The reveal sells scale and combat, then leaves the systems for another day. HoYoverse could have filled the premiere with progression screens. The studio chose giant monsters and group combat instead, which makes sense for a first reveal. You understand the pitch as soon as three characters square up against something ten times their size. The biggest unknown sits outside the fights. HoYoverse has built some of the largest free-to-play games in gaming, but the company has not confirmed the business model for Nodus Fall. Reports have linked the project with Unreal Engine 5, though the Gamescom reveal did not confirm the engine. HoYoverse also gave no release date or platform list. For HoYoverse, Nodus Fall reaches toward players who may have skipped Genshin Impact or Honkai. Anyone who spends hundreds of hours learning Monster Hunter weapons or fighting FromSoftware bosses now has a reason to watch a HoYoverse project. I am one of them. The first trailer gives Nodus Fall a clear pitch: gather a group, enter a broken fantasy world and hunt creatures capable of wiping the party in seconds. HoYoverse has the budget to sell that scale. The next reveal needs to show whether the combat deserves it.
